Nawana Hunkapiller

Nawana Francine Hunkapiller, entered this life September 27, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 12, 2022. She was the daughter of Calvin Vibbard and Klyda Wilson.

She married the love of her life Norman Hunkapiller on August 8, 1964, and they were blissfully married for 52 years. Together they brought forth a son, Todd Hunkapiller, and a daughter, Tammy Hunkapiller. Nawana and her husband Norm were successful business owners and operators of The Office Store in Durant, Okla. for 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family, 5 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Norman Hunkapiller; her, father Calvin Vibbard, and her mother, Klyda Wilson.

Survivors include son, Todd Hunkapiller of the home; daughter, Tammy Hunkapiller and partner George Butler of Calera, Okla.; sister, Debbie McMeans and husband JB of Buena Vista, Texas; brother, Rusty Vibbard and wife Carol of Rohnert Park, Calif.; brother-in-law, Warren Hunkapiller of Renton, Wash.; sister-in-law, Joy Holloway and husband Jesse of Bennington, Okla.; grandchildren: Robert Heurtevant Jr, Mandi Simmons, Allyson Turner, Lynsie Patton, and McKayla Patton; great-grandchildren: Rayden, Kamden, Emma, Ava, Kayzlee, Jaxton, Ackley, Khloe, Levey, Sam, and Kolten and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant, Okla., at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Todd Hunkapiller, George Butler, Robert Heurtevant Jr., Charles Maxey, JB Means, and Rex Williams Jr. serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 3-5 p.m.
