Naomi Wiley

Naomi Wiley “Mamaw” was born on Jan. 30, 1928 in Paducah, Texas to Joseph Ervin and Onie Jane (Walston) Cook. Naomi passed from this life on July 9, 2019 in Calera, Okla. at the age of 91.

Naomi married J.E. Boots Wiley on June 26, 1947 in Paducah, Texas and they began their journey together. To this union were born two children, Kay and Steve. Naomi and Boots were blessed with 58-plus years together until his passing on March 6, 2006. They moved to Bryan County 55 years ago and Naomi worked at Safeway in Durant for 23 years until her retirement.
She was a faithful member of Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church and she enjoyed sewing, flowers, making jewelry, beadwork and gardening. Her greatest joy in life was her family, her children and grandchildren.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Christina Rae Smith and nine siblings.

Naomi is survived by her children, Linda Kay (Wiley) Smith and husband Travis and son, Burnie Steve Wiley and wife Charlene; grandchildren, Tonya Kay (Smith) Gordon and husband David, Kenneth Duane Wiley and wife Liz and Tamra Michelle (Smith) Horner and husband John; great grandchildren, Benjamin Gordon, William Gordon, Ethan Horner, Joshua Gordon, Naomi Horner, Sarah Wiley, Kathryn Gordon and Finley Horner and numerous extended family and friends.

A celebration of Naomi’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church. Bro. Greg Thralls and Bro. Anthony Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with Kenneth Wiley, David Gordon, John Horner, Benjamin Gordon, William Gordon, Ethan Horner and Joshua Gordon serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Finley Horner.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
