Nancy Barnes, previously of Caddo, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, in Sachse, Texas, at the age of 85. Her journey began on May 15, 1939, in Caddo, Oklahoma, to H.M. and Mabel (Hall) Nesbitt, Nancy’s early years in Caddo laid a foundation for the wonderful woman she would later become.
After marrying the love of her life, Harry Barnes, Jr., Nancy embraced her role as a mother with joy. She later entered a career as a receptionist for Hilton in Fort Worth, Texas. She was known for her warmth and welcoming presence and was appreciated for her genuine care and attention to detail, making everyone feel at home. Nancy’s faith was reflected through her daily life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Caddo, Oklahoma. Nancy was known to have a green thumb and found great joy in tending to her garden. She was a great cook, and she delighted in preparing meals for her family, especially during the holidays, making every holiday magical with her love for decorating.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her children, including Brett Barnes and his wife Moon of Carrolton, Texas; Lisa Kessler and Steve Kessler of Gainesville, Texas; Amy Michelle Alizai and her husband Ali of Wylie, Texas; Keith Barnes and his wife Angela of Ector, Texas; and Kent Barnes and his wife Penny of Moss Lake, Texas. Nancy’s legacy extends to her adored grandchildren, Kosmo Barnes, Katie Barnes, Jacob Kessler and wife Victoria, Stephen Kessler, Leah Kessler, Jami Ghaemmaghami and her husband Brian, Carson Freeman and his wife Kenzie, Shelly Godwin and her husband Daniel, Jeremy Barnes, and his wife Brittany, Misti Floyd and her husband Jake, and Bo Barnes. She is also survived by her brother Hal Nesbitt of Caddo, Oklahoma; her sisters Belinda Davison and her husband Gary of Caddo, Oklahoma, and Jackie Brendle of Norman, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, H.M. and Mabel Nesbitt; her husband, Harry Barnes, Jr.; her sister, Natosha Nesbitt; her son, Craig Barnes; and her grandson, Jason Barnes.
Friends and family will gather for Family Hour from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Brother James Syder officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest following her service in Gethsemane Cemetery. A reception will be held at Rock Community Building in Caddo following her service.
Those serving as pallbearers are Kosmo Barnes, Jacob Kessler, Stephen Kessler, Carson Freeman, Ali Alizai, and Steve Kessler.
