Mead man flown from two-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon

MEAD – Two people were injured and one was flown to Plano as a result of a two-vehicle accident northwest of Mead on Friday afternoon.

Lenay Skipworth, 72 of Mead, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup north on Big Valley Road at about 2:30 p.m., according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. She attempted to turn left onto Paris Lane when her vehicle was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe going south on Big Valley Road and driven by Duane Sallee, 48 of Mead.

Sallee was transported by Air Evac to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas and admitted in good condition with leg and head injuries. Skipworth was transported by the Bryan County EMS to Texoma Medical Center in Sherman, Texas and admitted in good condition with leg injuries.

Seatbelts were equipped in both vehicles, but were not in use by either driver, according to the report. Airbags were equipped in both and deployed in Skipworth’s vehicle.

The cause of the collision was a failure to yield, according to the report.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Bryan County EMS, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department, West Bryan County Fire Department.
