Maxine Franklin

Maxine (Ammmons) Franklin of Durant, Okla., passed from this life on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born on Friday, September 6, 1935 in Caddo, Okla., to Mack Dolphus and Lola Mae (Price) Ammons.

She spent most of her life in Caddo and was one of eleven children. They used to attend church services in an old school building called Buffalo. At 11 or 12 years of age, she found Jesus and was baptized in river water in Maytoy, Okla. She has trusted in the Lord ever since! She later attended Robinson Baptist Church.

In high school, she was a very good basketball player, and was good at just about any other sports. After graduating high school, she met the love of her life. She married Bobby Dean Franklin on February 17, 1956 in Durant. She worked as an insurance secretary at a bank in Atoka, Okla. Later on, she would work years alongside her husband in their furniture business. They were together for 64 years, up until his passing. During those years, they had three wonderful sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Dolphus and Lola Mae (Price) Ammons; husband, Bobby Dean Franklin; oldest son, Dennis Franklin; grandson, Caleb Franklin; brothers, Leroy Ammons, Dolphus “Dockey” Ammons, Carrol Wayne Ammons, JC Ammons; sisters, Susie Cates, Dorothy “Dot” Parker and Roxie “Totsie” Parks.

Survivors include her sons: Mike Franklin and wife Donna, Allen Franklin and wife Ladonna; grandchildren: Robert, Darron, Mikey, Caitlyn, Lashona, Derik, Chase, Aaron, Colt, Coby, Cort; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Cayden, Leeann, Kalob, Micaiah, Tanner, Carden, Alexia, Holton, Delaney, Waylon, Mason, Alexander, Sebastian, Jaycie, James, Dean, Preston, Titus, Jesse; great-great grandchild, Ezekiel; siblings: Sybil Franklin, Bill Ammons, Mack Ammons Jr. as well as other extended family and friends.

A family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Robinson Baptist Church in Caddo, Oklahoma with Bro. Anthony Williams and Lashona Lay officiating. A graveside service will follow at Caney Cemetery in Caney, Oklahoma. Derik Franklin, Aaron Franklin, Colt Franklin, Cort Franklin, Coby Franklin, Chase Franklin, Michael Franklin, Robert Franklin and Daron Franklin will serve as pallbearers.
