Mavis Smith of Durant, Okla., passed from this life on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 77. She was born on Tuesday, January 14, 1947 in Webber Falls, Okla., to Laymon Joseph and Viola Beatrice (Cox) Williams.
She was a Native Oklahoman and lifelong resident. She married Larry Smith in 1974.
She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed canning. She was also a seamstress and a dog lover.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laymon and Bea Williams; stepson, Jim; sisters: Betty, Ann, Emma, Joy, Cynthia; brothers: Joe, Roy, Dennis, and Neal.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Smith; children: Starla and husband Rob, Les and wife Julie, Shannon; stepchildren: John, Cindy, Carla; sisters: Patsy, Nancy; brothers: Randy, Sidney; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.
Cremation services have been selected. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local animal rescue or shelter.
