Mary Jeffreys

Mary Oleda Jeffreys, of Bokchito, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on April 7, 1933, in Pritchard, Okla., Mary’s life was a testament to her enduring faith, and the joy she found in simple pleasures.

Mary grew up in the loving embrace of her parents, Martin Luther and Ella (Cochneur) Wall, and alongside her siblings. She was a graduate of Bokchito High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for her future endeavors. She was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. Mary’s dedication to her community was evident through her work as a cafeteria worker at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Her love for the land was reflected in the care she took of her family’s cattle, a testament to her hardworking spirit.

A woman of deep faith, Mary attended Banty Baptist Church, Reynolds Chapel, and finally Bokchito First Baptist Church. Her spiritual life was the cornerstone of her existence, and she shared her love for gospel music with all who knew her.

Mary’s creative soul shone brightly through her hobbies. She found peace in her garden, joy in her sewing, and love in the meals she cooked for her family. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always full.

Mary’s legacy lives on through her sons, Rodney Jeffreys of Bokchito, Okla., and Wendell Jeffreys of Durant, Okla.; her adored grandchildren, Blake and Mikayla Jeffreys of Calera, Okla.; and the many lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ella Wall; her beloved husband, Judge Jeffreys; her sisters, Winona Jacobsen, and Delores Wilson; and her brothers: Bill, Wylie, and David Wall.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Bokchito First Baptist Church with Brother Roger Speers officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Bokchito Cemetery following her funeral service.
