Mary Elizabeth (Sanders) Hockett of Cartwright passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born February 25, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to George Washington and Freda Marie (Davis) Sanders.
Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandkids. Mary liked spending time outdoors camping, and gardening. Her favorite pastimes were reading, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoyed taking trips and going to festivals. Mary was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sonya Presson; granddaughters, Mandy Schulenberg and Bridgette Mahon and husband Mike; grandson, Brad Presson; her great-granddaughters, Aleah Schulenberg, Presley Mahon, and Madison Mahon, and her great-grandsons, Dylan Schulenberg, William Mahon, and Warner Mahon.
Preceding her in death are her parents, George and Freda Sanders; husband, James Hockett; daughter, Karen Miller; brother, Earl Sanders; and sister, Clara Schimmel.
Her funeral service was held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Jessie Hopkins officiating. Those serving as pallbearers: Lonnie Sanchez, Brad Presson, Brian Sanders, and Ricky Pratt.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant.
