Martin Boyd

Martin Boyd, a veteran of the United States Army, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 25, 2020 at the age of 78. He was born in Grandy, Ark. to Marvin Eugene Boyd and Ina Eunice (Bodiford) Boyd on May 17, 1942. 

Martin proudly serviced his country in the Army. He was a resident of Durant, Okla. for 26 years, and a member of the Abundant Life Texoma. Martin enjoyed many things: a quiet day fishing, the cool days being in the woods hunting, old cars, woodworking, gardening, and he appreciated the beauty of flowers.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Willie Mae Wisinger and Joy Elizabeth Higgs and brothers, John Boyd and Tommy Boyd.

Mr. Boyd leaves behind this beloved wife, Sherry of the home; cherished children: Sonya Boyd Bauer and husband Steve of Krum, Texas, Dennice Bradford and husband Jeff of Garland, Texas, Cristi Young and husband David of Durant, Oklahoma, Danette Hilton and husband Dave of Plano, Texas, and Jhordan Boyd Niedenfuer and husband Kevin of Pine City, Minn.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom he was so proud: Jessica Young and fiancé Jake Fears, Zhakery Bradford and wife Alyssa Bradford, Rhyan Young, John Galik, Jakob Bradford and fiancé Alexandria Giles, Shelbie McBride and husband Austin, Keegan Galik, Rudi Hilton, Rylee Bradford, David Martin Hilton, Gabby Bauer, Bryanna Bauer, Caydence Bauer, Aaron Jorgenson, Alayna Jorgenson, Maria Jorgenson, and James Martin Niedenfuer (Feb 2021), and six great-grandchildren.

The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at the Abundant Life Texoma in Durant, Okla. with Bishop Randall Drake and Pastor Mark Allen officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 1:15 p.m. the internment can be viewed via live video feed on the funeral home FB page. (Due to state regulations on the COVID-19 virus, only 30 family members will be allowed to attend the burial.)

His pallbearers will be Zhakery Bradford, Rhyan Young, John Galik, Jakob Bradford, Keegan Galik, David Hilton and Max King (alternate), and serving as the honorary pallbearers are Jeff Bradford, David Young, Dave Hilton, Steve Bauer, and Kevin Niedenfuer.
