ACHILLE – A Texas man was taken by Air Evac from a single-vehicle accident nearly two miles north of Achille on Thursday afternoon.

A 29-year-old man from Bells was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi south on Oklahoma Highway 78 when his vehicle departed the road for unknown reasons, striking a ditch, then rolling 1/2 time before coming to rest on its top, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The vehicle then caught fire.

The man was transported to Medical City Plano and admitted in good condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

The condition of the driver was apparently normal, according to the report. The seat belt was in use and the air bag deployed properly.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Calera Police Department, Bryan County EMS, Achille Fire Department, Calera Fire Department, Durant Fire Department, Choctaw Tribal Police, and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.
