Louann McVay

Louann McVay, a beautiful soul joined her beloved Savior Jesus Christ on November 29, 2021, at the age of 85. She was born in Dallas, Texas, to Walter A. Jones and Lizzie Lafe (Carmack) Jones.

Louann grew up in Coleman, Okla., and Durant, Okla. She graduated from OU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Music in piano. After winning Federation of Music Clubs competitions, she went on to perform recitals in New York City and Chicago. Louann married Ralph Michael (Mickey) McVay in 1960, her son Michael was born in 1966, followed by son Lance in 1968. Her family moved to Tulsa in 1970, where Louann was involved with music lessons, sports, and schoolwork for her sons, Michael and Lance. She worked for many years as a legal secretary.

Upon retiring she moved to Plano, Texas in 2009 to be near Michael. Louann loved blues (and bluesy) music, reading her bible every day, eating Strawberries Romanoff, but her favorite thing was spending time with her cherished family.

Mrs. McVay is survived by her son, Michael; grandsons, Noah and Max (father was Lance); daughter-in-law, April (Lance’s wife); cousins, Jenny and John McCutcheon, along with many cousins and friends.

Mrs. McVay was preceded in death by her parents, Walter A. and Lizzie Lafe Jones, and son, Lance.

Family hour will be from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Okla. A chapel service will begin at 2 p.m. with Bro. James Robinson officiating. Louann’s final resting place will be the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
