DURANT – The city of Durant welcomes a new addition to its historical downtown as Lost Street Brewing Co., the city’s first brewery of its kind, announces a fall 2020 opening. Located at 115 Lost St., the brewery is the brainchild of the Dewald family, residents of Durant.

After a two-year search, Scott and Brenda Dewald along with their grown children and their spouses purchased the historic white buildings on Lost Street in downtown Durant. Originally the location of Holsum Bakery and Turner Baking Company, the new craft brewery will be using its grain a little differently – to brew quality craft beer for the community and its visitors.

“Our family has enjoyed traveling to breweries across the country, tasting excellent craft beer, connecting as a family and making new friends along the way,” said Scott Dewald, brewery co-owner. “In bringing a taste of our experiences to the Durant community, our hope is for Lost Street to become a local ‘go-to’ spot for casual gatherings, good beer, and events of all kinds – a place where community is found.”

Lost Street Brewing Co., just a few feet south of Main Street, will feature award-winning craft beer recipes from its tap room, outdoor patio seating and an adjacent event space with plenty of room for private and corporate events. The brewing equipment, including a ten barrel capacity brewhouse, has been handcrafted in Oregon and will soon be arriving in downtown Durant.

“Growing up my father worked at the Holsum Bakery, and I remember how wonderful the building smelled,” said former mayor and current City Councilman Jerry Tomlinson. “I’m truly excited about the revitalization of downtown Durant and what Lost Street Brewing will bring to the community. I’m looking forward to walking back through those familiar doors and gathering with friends and family.”

The projected opening for Lost Street Brewing Co. is fall 2020.
