Lillie Jane “Janie” Pierce

Lillie Jane “Janie” Woodrum was born August 11, 1947 in Grand Saline, Texas to James and Zelda (Bowers) Woodrum. She was the oldest of three children.

The family eventually moved to Bennington, Oklahoma where she attended school and graduated in 1965. After graduation, she attended Murray State College and SSC (now SOSU) in pursuit of a Home Economics degree. On December 19, 1970, she married Troy Lynn Pierce. Two weeks after the wedding, he held up his promise to take her away from Oklahoma, when she boarded a plane and joined him in Fairbanks, Alaska. They spent the next 16 years with the military. Retiring in 1986 back to Durant, where she finished raising her children.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers David Woodrum and Allen Woodrum.

She is survived by her husband, Troy; daughters, Amanda Lamb and husband Bryant of Bridgeport, Texas, Nicole Serner and husband Jason of Tarlton, Texas, spiritual daughter Mary Gorley and husband Otis of Fate, Texas; grandchildren: Mathias Lamb and wife Debbie of Bowie, Texas, Kiara Durocher and husband Seth, of Ft. Worth, Texas, KeiLynn Lamb of Bridgeport, Texas, Levi and Benjamin Serner of Tarlton, Texas; great-grandchildren: Ezra, Charlie, and Zelda Lamb of Bowie, Texas.

Special “adopted” grandchildren that were very dear to her heart, Jeremy, Jacob, Shekinah, and Angelica Sheriff and their families.
