Leta Mae Loftis was born Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1938 in Roberta, Okla. to Ernest and Connie (Higgins) Robinson. She passed from this life into her Eternal home on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 at the age of 83.
Leta attended Roberta Public Schools and was employed as a secretary for AT&T for many years until her retirement. She married D.W. Loftis in Roberta on May 25, 1958. She was a longtime member of the Roberta Baptist Church. Leta Mae enjoyed cross stitching, needlework, growing flowers, and watching hummingbirds. She loved raising her sheltie dogs and helping with Vacation Bible School at church.
Leta Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, D.W. on July 31, 2004; a brother, Max Robinson; and sister, Wilma Robinson-Border.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Cates and husband, Cliff, of Greenville, Texas; brother, Sammy Jess Robinson and wife, Billie Merle, of Durant, Okla.; daughters, Karen Loftis Merida and husband, Clint, of Clayton, Okla., and Diana Grand-Lienard and husband, Rob, of Rockwall, Texas; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, at Roberta Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Robinson officiating. Mrs. Loftis will be laid to rest next to D.W. at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Serving as pallbearers will be Clyde Wayne Robinson, Kerry Robinson, Randy Robinson, Pat Loftis, Clint Merida and Rob Grand-Lienard.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 3-5 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
