Leslie Ray Thomas, of Denison, Texas left this life on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at the age of 85. He was born on Sunday, March 1, 1936 in Bennington, Okla. to Jesse William and Eva (Gaither) Thomas.
Ray married Rozell Sangster on July 9, 1955 in Durant, Okla.
He was a resident of Denison, Texas for the past 9 years, previously living in Blue, Okla. from 1978-2012. He enjoyed car shows, RVing, vacationing, outdoors, showing his Thunderbird in the car shows and spending time with his family. He loved old cars, driving fast, playing dominoes but most of all loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse William and Eva (Gaither) Thomas; son, Bobby Ray Thomas; sisters, Laverne Calhoun, Mattie Pebworth; brothers Cecil, Johnny, Billy, Charles, Darrell and Jessie Lee Thomas.
Survivors include his his wife of 66 years, Rozell Sangster Thomas of the home; daughters, Cheryl Capps and husband Ron of Hawkins, Texas, Susanne Kulbeth and husband Michael of Denison, Texas; grandchildren: Rhonda Speed and husband Bart of Forney, Texas, Amy Moffitt and husband Danny of Stansbury Park, Utah, Kory Hobby and Dylan Kulbeth of Denison, Texas; great-grandchildren: Tyler Hawkins, Emma Moffitt, Anna Moffitt; great-great-grandchild, Isaac Garcia and brother, Donnie Thomas and wife Susan of Eustace, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be available from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 at The Monterey Chapel, 224 S. Ninth Ave. in Durant, Okla. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Thomas, Biff Carter, Jerry Cook, Zack Cook, Lynn Richards and Cody Spencer.
