Durant Police Department hosts Law Enforcement Memorial

Release

DURANT – Each year the United States of America observes National Police Week when thousands of people gather in Washington, D.C. to honor those law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty during the current and previous years. This week-long memorial serves also to comfort their grieving families. Last year 617 law enforcement officers gave their lives in the line of duty nationwide.

Joining the national tribute to our fallen officers, The Durant Police Department in conjunction with all area law enforcement agencies, hosts the local Law Enforcement Memorial. Observed annually, law enforcement officers, families, and local communities gather at Market Square in Durant, Okla., to honor those fallen officers from our area and to comfort their families.

We ask for your patriotic attendance to assist us in this important annual community event.
