Laverne McDonald passed from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 90. She was born on October 1, 1932 on 12 mile prairie north of Durant, Okla., to Lonnie Richard and Sarah Florence (James) McDonald. 
She was a longtime resident of Durant. She enjoyed traveling, reading, search-a-word puzzles, shopping and talking on the phone with her friends and family. She had a big heart and was very generous with her friends and family. Most of all she loved the Lord and spending time with those close to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles McDonald; nephews, Christopher Welch, Kelly McDonald, Steve Wigington and a niece, Crystal Harrelson.
Survivors include her sister, Christine Despain of Durant, Okla.; sister-in-law, Donnie McDonald of Durant, Okla.; nephews, Kenneth Wigington and wife Deborah of St. John, Wash., Travis Wigington of McAlester, Okla., Travis Wigington of Durant, Okla., Kelly McDonald and wife Sheila of Bokchito, Okla., David McDonald and wife Stacey of Durant, Okla., Scotty Wigington of Durant, Okla., Phillip Wigington of Durant, Okla.; nieces, Valerie Welch and husband Danny of Durant, Okla., Tina Mueller and husband John of Mead, Okla., Tamara Wigington of Durant, Okla. as well as other nieces, nephews and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla., with Bro. Garry McNeill officiating. Chuck Welch, Chris Wigington, Scott, Brad Wigington, Kelly McDonald and David McDonald will serve as pallbearers.
