Laura Lee (Loman) Kent was born on September 5, 1949, in Wewoka, Okla., to William T. and Katherine (Cooper) Loman. Laura passed away on January 2, 2024, in Durant, Okla., at the age of 74.
Laura graduated from Durant High School and later married Roger Dean Kent on March 17, 1967, in Durant. They were united in marriage for 40 years until Rogers’s passing on July 15, 2007. She attended The River Church in Durant, and she enjoyed spending time in God’s Word, writing, designing house plans, boardgames and card games, and she treasured the time she spent with her kids, grandkids, and her bird “Thomas”.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband Roger Dean Kent; parents William and Katherine Loman; sister Katherine McCutcheon and brother John William Loman.
Laura is survived by her daughters, Deana Powell and husband Andrew of Durant, Okla., and Kelly Murphree and husband Brian of Durant, Okla.,; grandchildren: Joshua Murphree of Durant, OK, Kiersti Murphree of Colorado Springs, Cool., Hunter Murphree and wife Brook of Durant, Okla., Hayden McClour and wife Anna McClour of Clayton, N.C., and Olivia Reinecker and husband Nathan Reinecker of Bokchito, Okla.; five great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Curtis Coker officiated.
