LaQuita Sexton, of Calera, Okla., passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021 at the age of 85. She was born on Saturday, Feb. 2, 1935 in Cobb, Okla. to Henry J. and Velma Beatryce (Hart) Skaggs.
She married Wendell L. Sexton, Sr. on January 18, 1952 in Madill, Okla.
She worked hard on the farm and enjoyed making a home. She loved to quilt, cook, read and work crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Beatryce Skaggs; husband, Wendell L. Sexton, Sr.; brother, Cletis L. Skaggs and grandson, Cary Williamson.
Survivors include son, Wendell Sexton, Jr. and wife Retha of Denison, Texas; daughters: Debbie Ritchie and husband Darren of Dallas, Texas, Renee Williamson of Calera, Okla.; sister, Marketa Mitchell and husband Marvin of Durant, Okla.; brothers: Henry Skaggs and wife Edith of Baytown, Texas, Don B. Skaggs of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren: Alicia Riggenbach, Bradley Wingfield, Shannon Lewis, Leslie Whitley, Tristan L. Sexton, Nicole Brown, Natalie Cox and Rami Ritchie; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A family hour will be held from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday January 28, 2021 at the Monterey, 224 S. Ninth Ave. in Durant, Okla., with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating. A graveside will follow at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Okla.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. Third Ave. in Durant.
