Landon Wayne Emerson passed away May 24, 2021, at the young age of 15. He was born to his mother, Lacey Burt and father, Khyle Emerson in Durant, Okla., on October 8, 2005.
Landon attended Rock Creek High School in Blue, Okla., where he had only one week to finish his freshman year. He was a well-liked and respected student among his peers. They say he never met a stranger, and there was something about him he would and could touch every heart of the people he met.
Taking the golf cart out to the lake shore was one of his favorite pastimes, along with riding his skateboard and scooter and learning new stunts. You could see the joy and pride in his face when he would master something new. If he needed to get away from all the noise, he could be found watching the deer and feeding them apples. Like any typical teenager, he loved spaghetti, Mac and Cheese, and don’t forget the ramen noodles.
But when it came to his family, he was above most his age. The love he had for his family was incredible. He protected his sister and brother and always watched over them. He cherished the times mom and he went to the movie theater to watch scary movies since no one else would. Planting flowers and cactus with his mamaw was a great pleasure of his. He cherished every hug and kiss from Mimi that he could get, and there were lots.
He never wanted to see anyone sad, especially his family. He was known to crack jokes to ease the mood or make silly faces until you could not stand it anymore, then must smile. If Landon were here now, he would be saying stop crying, silly goose.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Jesse Andrew; great-grandfather, Wayne Kitchens; great-grandmother, Barbara Coty Miller and great-great-grandmother, Verna Mae Kitchens.
He is survived by father, Khyle Emerson; mother, Lacey Burt; stepdad, Grant Bennett; sister, Brooklyn Johnson; brother, Khane Yancey; mamaw, Robbie Burt; meme, Crystal Emerson; papaw, Keith Emerson; grandma and grandpa, Tyson and Sandy Emerson; great-grandmother, Ellen Flowers; uncles: Ty Burt, Bret Bennett and Chance Hodge; aunts: Brooklyn Burt, Leah Alexander, Brittany Bennett, Khayla Emerson, Ashly Hodge and Khara Emerson (aunt Deeta); cousins: Ronnie Mae Burt, Ckyelynn Burt, Jesse Burt London Alexander, Chet Hodge, Colby Hodge, Aubrey Hodge, Baylee Bennett, Bella Bennett, Blair Bennett, Brooks Bennett, Hayden O’Brien, Karter O’Brien, Alexia Peters and Ali Knight and many friends and others that will truly miss him.
