The son of Kenneth Wayne Young and Betty Louise (Ford) Dighton, Kenny was born on August 9, 1963, in Jacksonville Fla., and passed away on June 19, 2023 at the age of 59 years, 10 month and 10 days.
He and Susan Ann Vanderburg were married on September 27, 1997, in Ardmore, Okla.
He grew up in a military family having lived in California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina and Hawaii. He attended Dickson school and graduated Dickson High School. Kenny was employed with Valero for the past 27 years where he worked as a warehouse technician. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and had a love for the outdoors and sightseeing. He also had a passion for any type of sports but especially motorcycle racing. Kenny was a member of the First Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories are his wife, Susan; son, Hunter Young; daughte,r Maegan Young; son, Blake Brawley; mother, Betty Dighton; sister, Terri Lynne French; brother, Gary Wayne Young; nieces, Heather Hunt and family, and Jill Troop and family; nephew, Chris Hunter, and family and Wesley Young and family.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Kenneth Wayne Young, Sr.; stepmother, Linda Young; stepfather, JW Dighton; sister, Kenna Janice Young.
Celebration of life for Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Young, Jr. will be 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the assistance of Blake Brawley, Hunter Young, Kyle Nault, Grant Owen, Gary Young, Wesley Young and Chris Hunter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Valero coworkers and his best friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
