Kenneth Reid

Kenneth Edward Reid, 51 of Calera, Okla., passed away on August 17, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 20, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Charles Reid and Laura Anderson.

Kenneth lived in Bryan County for most of his life. He was involved in cub scouts, FFA, and excelled in wood working, including furniture making. Kenneth played baseball and basketball for the Silo Rebels. He graduated from Silo High School in 1986 and went on to complete one semester at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Kenneth then joined the United States Army.

After returning from duty, he came back home to continue in the family business of construction. He was the Superintendent of his crew at Russell Construction. Kenneth enjoyed watching Thunder games, camping, and riding his motorcycle on special Sunday rides. He also loved spending time with his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Kenneth also had a very special friend and partner, his dog, Shepherd, who never left his side even in the end. Kenneth was a member of Victory Life Church.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his grandma Betty Pruett, grandfather Woodrow Walker, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kenneth is survived by his dad and mom Charles and Traci Reid; brother, Steve Reid and wife Lesley of Durant, Okla.; nephew, Josh Reid Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; niece, Stephanie Berry and husband Yirgalem and their child Samira Rose Berry all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nephew, Ryan Reid and girlfriend Shelby Cooper and their child Jaxin Cooper Reid all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nieces: Rachel Reid and Sara Metcalf of Oklahoma City, Okla.; aunt, Janice Peoples and husband Glenn of Durant, Okla.; cousin, Erikka Rich and husband Clint of Denison, Texas; grandmother, Betty Walker of Durant, Okla.; sister, Heather Mooney of Florida, Laura Anderson of Wisconsin; “The Crew” of Russell Construction and best buddy, Shepherd.

The family would like to thank a very important group of special friends for going above and beyond in helping Kenneth in his life. This would be his Recovery Family and Counselors. Also, the Calera Police Department for their service and compassion.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant, Okla. with Ronny Ford officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant.
