Kenneth Ray Hickman was born on April 8, 1946 in Blue, Okla. to Edwin Lloyd and Mary (Fowler) Hickman. Kenneth passed away on July 6, 2021 in Ada, Okla. at the age of 75.
Kenneth has been a lifelong resident of Bryan County. He graduated from Calera Public School and worked at Johnson and Johnson is Sherman until his retirement. He married Nelda Kay Bean on September 17, 1966 in Calera. They have been blessed with 54 years of marriage and two daughters, Melanie and Myra. Kenneth proudly served in the Army Reserve until his honorable discharge.
Kenneth loved the Lord with all his heart. He always said, “Jesus is the best friend anyone could ever have”. He faithfully attended Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, Texas.
He always worked hard and was ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. Whether it was remodeling or repairing a house or mowing the neighbor’s lawn and always willing to take anyone in that needed a place to stay. He was a second dad to many of his nieces and nephews. He was an amazing husband, father and grandaddy always loving and providing for his family. His legacy will continue on through his family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
Kenneth is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nelda Hickman of the home; beloved daughters, Melanie Patton and husband Jeff of Calera, Okla. and Myra Hickman of Calera, Okla.; treasured grandsons: Andrew and Samuel Patton of Calera, Okla.; brother, Albert Hickman and wife Rita of Fort Worth, Texas and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Raymond England and Bro. David Sanders will officiate. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Jeff Patton, Andrew Patton, Samuel Patton, Tim Dunn, David Work and Chuck Townsend serving as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
