Ken Lummus

Ken Lummus was born November 13, 1946 in Levelland, Texas, to parents Aubrey Lee Lummus and Levie Jane (Smith) Lummus. He passed from this life on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 75.

Ken attended school in Sundown, Texas. He married Marguerite Sue Arnold on May 30, 1965 and came to Bryan County in 1977 from Sundown. Ken worked for the Silo Public Schools as a maintenance bus mechanic before his retirement. He enjoyed breaking horses, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald Lummus, Don Lummus, Aubrey Lummus Jr., Herbert Whalin and Luther Whalin; and one sister, Wilema Kirby.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, of the Silo home; daughter, Diana Lummus and JD Blair; son, Cody Lummus and his wife, Keri, all of Durant; grandchildren, Joell Pruitt (Justin), Kenzee Lummus, Sarah Allen (Nathan English), DJ Barron, Cody Lummus, Harley Riddle (Clay), David Newell (Lyric), Dustin Barron, Dhanielle Barron, Tanner Skelton (Cheyenne), and Dillon Skelton (Natalie); great-grandchildren, Jaxtyn English, Stacy Pruitt, AJ and Kelsie Rieger, Fernando Skelton, Nathan and Olivia Riddle, and Hannah Skelton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at Brown’s Funeral chapel with Pastor Roger Speers officiating, with nephews Randy Whalin and Sam Whalin assisting. Mr. Lummus will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Silo with Robert Lummus, Dal Whalin, Justin Baxter, Luke Culley, Steve Nelson and Robert Dickerson, serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant.
