Katharine Virginia Kendrick, 69, of Kingston, Okla., passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born on August 11, 1952, in Madill, Okla., to William Overton Buck and Ellen Little Buck.
Kathy was raised in Kingston, where she graduated high school in 1970. She attended SOSU in Durant, Okla., where she received her bachelor’s degree, graduating in 1974 and she later received her master’s degree and graduated in 1976.
She started her career with the Kingston Public Schools in January 1975 and taught for 31.5 years retiring in May 2006. Kathy received the Teacher of the Year in 2005. She married Robert L. Kendrick on December 26, 1980, in Madill. They were married 40 years, 8 months and 1 day at the time of her passing. In 2006, Kathy started working for Walmart as a cashier and was transferred to pharmacy as a sale clerk. She was a member of the Kingston Alumni Association and attended 51 banquets without missing.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Rob” Kendrick of Kingston, Okla.; children: Robert O. Kendrick and wife Sunday of Calera, Okla., Jordan Kendrick and wife Chloe of Kingston, Okla.; grandchildren: Gabe, Daniel, Autumn and Alfred Kendrick.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; father- and mother-in-law, Bob and Lois Kendrick; brother, William Buck; brother in-law, Don Kendrick.
Memorials may be made to the Kingston Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at the Watts Funeral Home in Kingston, Okla. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a family hour from 6-8 pm.
Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, at the Kingston First Baptist Church, Kingston, Oklahoma. Steve Beebe, Joe and Sandy Patterson will officiate the service. Music arranged by Mark Atteberry and FBC Praise Team. Service will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
Casket Bearers are Robert O. Kendrick, Jordan Kendrick, Chris Sherwood, Jirl Buck, Jay McAdams, Guy Massey. Honorary Bearers are Chris Straub, Sterling Little, Class of 1970 Kingston High School.
