Karl Luter

Karl Luter was born Tuesday, May 22, 1928 in Biggers, Arkansas to Robert L. Luter and Gertrude (Pettigrew) Luter. He passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 in his home at the age of 93.

Karl was an Army veteran, inducted Oct. 28, 1950 and transferred to the Army Reserve Nov. 5, 1952. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 11, 1956 as a Corporal. Karl married the love of his life, Yvonna Talley, on March 17, 1954 in Tijuana, Mexico. They have been blessed with more than 67 years of marriage.

Karl was employed as a truck driver more than 25 years for Ameritone Paint Company in Compton, California. Karl and Yvonna came to Bokchito 35 years ago from Stanton, Calif. He enjoyed fishing at Blue River, catching lots of catfish. He coached sports teams for his two children and was a great father and grandfather. Karl’s joy was being with family.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Robert LeRoy Luter.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonna, of the home; daughters, Cheryl Luter of San Antonio, Texas, and Karla Luter of Garden Grove, Calif.; grandson, Matthew Luter and granddaughter, Nicole McLeod; sister, Shirley Holtquist and husband, Joe, of Pocahontas, Ark.; brother, Thomas Luter and wife, Carolyn, of Pocahontas, Ark. and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at Restland Cemetery in Silo with John Teel officiating.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant.
