Joni Jaye Murray-Siany

oni Jaye Murray-Siany of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the age of 63. She was born on Monday, December 11, 1961 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Belvia Gladys (Mintz) Murray and Elmer Ray Murray.

Joni was a long-time resident of Durant, Oklahoma. She attended Silo Schools and was a talented athlete who loved playing basketball. She also served as the head cheerleader for Silo in her high school years. In Bryan County, she was named “Fairest of the Fair” and crowned as the “Peanut Princess.” Later, she attended nursing school and also worked as an EMT.

She was of Christian faith and enjoyed attending church. She loved spending time with her family, her friends, and her sweet dog Sage. She also enjoyed lake days to the fullest and spent many summers soaking up the rays.

Joni was a loving wife and mother, and a friend to everyone who crossed her path. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Belvia Gladys (Mintz) Murray and Elmer Ray Murray; brothers :Gary Roberts, Steve Roberts, Bruce Powell; sisters: Phyllis Powell, and Carol Anne Slover.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of the home; daughters: Tiffany York of Mead, Okla., Cheyenne Murray of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Jesse Robbins of Norman, Okla.; brother, Johnny Murray of Mead, Okla.; sister, Belvia “Bimmy” Murray of Coalgate, Okla.; grandchildren: Taylor York of Calera, Okla., Jesse Shipman of Mead, Okla., Haylee Connolly of Mead, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Mikaya York of Calera, Okla., Madilyn York of Calera, Okla.; many nieces and nephews as well as other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Gordon Center, located at  305 N. Second. Ave. in Durant, Okla., with Bro. Landon Heinen officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. Third Ave. in Durant.
