JoAnn Nelson Wells, 78, of Colbert, Okla. passed away at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. She was born in Houston, Texas to Robert and Valorie Dudley Nelson on Feb. 17, 1943.
She attended school in Houston, Texas then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met Carlos Edward “Eddie” Wells. They were married on May 6, 1965 in Colbert, Okla.
She worked in retail until retiring in 2015. She enjoyed reading, sewing and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian and a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Colbert. She was a loving mother and mamaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Bobbie Tanner and Scarlet Draper, and two nephews.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Wells and Paul Wells of Colbert, Okla.; daughter, Shannon Wells Keith and husband Terry of Colbert, Okla.; grandsons, Dustin Wells (Josie) serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, Chase Usrey (Maria) and Devin Usrey of Colbert, Okla.; great-granddaughter, Athina Usrey-Aranda; nephews, Bill Tanner and Michael Tanner of Houston, Texas and her life long best friend of 70 years Patricia Ritter of Hempstead, Texas.
JoAnn will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial was held at the First Baptist Church of Colbert on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 with Pastor Steven Alexander officiating. JoAnn was cremated per her wishes.
