Jennifer Bassett

Jennifer (Jen Jen) LeeAnn Bassett 43, of Colbert, Okla., passed away May 17, 2024 at her home. She was born May 5, 1981, in Durant, Okla.

Jennifer was a 1999 graduate of Rock Creek High School, but attended Caddo schools most of her childhood. Jennifer married Benjamin Bassett on August 3, 2013, and together they raised three amazing children: Aaron, Collin and McKenzie.

Jen loved her family with the same fierce nature that she played sports. Jen Jen was born a natural athlete being the first female football player for the Caddo Bruins and further excelled as a softball player in her high school years. Her competitive nature made Jennifer a fierce opponent in everything from dominos to pickleball. She loved a challenge and loved to win.

Jennifer loved the outdoors spending most of her weekends at Lake Texoma camping, boating and devoting quality time with her family and friends. She worked in the accounting department at 360 Communications here in Bryan County and had a wonderful knack for numbers.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, LeRoy and Shirley Reynolds; grandfather, Colby Butler; grandmother, Imma Jean; grandparents, Jim and Colleen Ridling and cousins, Amanda Kay Whorton and Tiffany Reynolds.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Bassett of Colbert, Okla.; children: Aaron Wayne Bassett of Bennington, Okla., Collin James Bassett of Gainesville, Texas and McKenzie Rose Bassett of Colbert, Okla.; parents, David and Paula Butler of Caddo, Okla. and Judy McEntire of Bennington, Okla.; mother-in-Law, Laurie Bassett of Colbert, Okla.; sister, Misty Butler of Henderson, Texas; grandparent, Wilma Lee Mears of Bokchito, Okla.; sister-In-Law, Jamie Bassett of Colbert, Okla.; nieces, Ali Grace Powers and Madilyn Kay Powers both of Henderson, Texas; nephew, Chance Haile of Colbert, Okla.; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Jennifer (Jen Jen) Leann Bassett will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday May 28, 2024, at The Lighthouse of Colbert with Brother Joe Beshirs officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Crystal Renfro, Jodi Love, Kasidy Lester, Angi Porris, Tammie Freeman, Tera Lester, Ali Young, Amy Haile, and Bailey Akard. Honorary Pallbearers Jaime (Jim Anne) Bassett, Ray Don Gordon, Torrey Lester, Stephen Freeman, Chance Haile, Daniel Haile, Tim Porris and Jeaun Love.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Okla.
