Jean Cullum

Jean Cullum of Mead, Okla., passed from this life on Sunday, June 9, 2024 in Mead at the age of 90. She was born on Friday, August 4, 1933 in Frogville, Okla., to Ruben Odell and Annie Lee (Williams) Bowden.

She was a longtime resident of Mead, Okla. She married George Dwain Cullum on December 22, 1953 in Greenville, S.C., at Donaldson Air Force Base. They were married for 46 loving years, up until his passing.

She worked for the Durant and Frederick Public Schools for numerous years. She was a proud Choctaw and worked with the Johnson-O’Malley Program.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and attending church. She loved spending time with her family and going to family reunions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dwain Cullum.

Survivors include her sons, Daryl Cullum and wife Kay of Houston, Texas, Danny Cullum and wife Karen of Mead, Okla., Dennis Cullum and wife Carol of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren: Jason Roberts and wife Allison of Austin, Texas, Kristi West of Durant, Okla., Natalie Cullum of Durant, Okla., Jessica Cullum of Durant, Okla., Timothy West of Durant, Okla., Arin Cullum of Durant, Okla., Julie Cullum of Texarkana, Texas, Daniel Cullum of Durant, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Ila, Coen, Carson Allen, Dean Franklin, Preston Franklin, Michael Ramirez, Bryson Dial, Aryauna Dial, Camryn Ramirez, Bradley West, Emily West as well as other extended family.

A family visitation will be held prior to the service at 1 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mead, Okla. with Pastor Randy Lewis officiating.

A graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla. Carson Allen, Daniel Cullum, Rex Holt, Daryl Cullum, Danny Cullum, and Dennis Cullum will serve as pallbearers.
