Janice Sanborn

Janice Wyatt Sanborn, of Durant, passed away on March 29, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on January 12, 1935, in Durant, Oklahoma, to John Stanley and Mildred (McClain) Darnall.

In her professional life, Janice had a career as a bookkeeper for the Bryan County Treasurer’s Office spanning many years. During which time, she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and made lifelong friends. Beyond her work, Janice was a devoted member of Durant First Church of the Nazarene, where she found faith and fellowship.

Janice enjoyed crocheting in her free time and was an avid reader. She also had a passion for games and game shows, which provided many hours of entertainment for her.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Wyatt and his wife Tria Lee of Saginaw, Texas, and Mark Sanborn and his domestic partner Robbi of San Marcos, California. Janice’s legacy continues through her four grandsons, Ryan Sanborn and his wife Julie, Sean Wyatt and his wife Katherin, Aaron Wyatt and his wife Elizabeth, and Stephen Wyatt, as well as her three great-grandsons, Jack Ryan Sanborn, Nicholas Wyatt, and Alexander Wyatt.

Preceding her in death are her parents John and Mildred Darnall, and her cousin Nadine Gritton.

Her family will receive friends at her Family Hour on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 6-7 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Winston Wilson, Brent Smith, and John Kinsey officiating. Janice will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery following her funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Sean Wyatt, Aaron Wyatt, Stephen Wyatt, Tyler Cory, Mike Hull, and Ivan Matthews. Honorary pallbearers are Philip Rustin, Cecil Smith, and Paul Smith.
