James (Jim) Dean Samuel, 71, passed away on May 25, 2021 in Plano, Texas. He was born on Nov. 8, 1949 in Edmond, Okla., to Dean and Ouita Samuel.
Jim was the oldest of three children. Jim graduated from Durant High School in 1968. He loved track and was on the track team running the 400 Meter dash and the mile relay. In 1966, Jim and his team won the state track meet. After high school, he attended college at SOSU. He was inducted into the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 30, 2011. Jim joined the United States Air Force in 1969 serving four years.
Jim married the loved of his life, Amber Carolyn (Hunt) Samuel, on July 29, 2006, they loved to travel in their RV. He bought and sold cars for over 40 years. Jim was an avid OU Sooners fan, calling his mom after games to talk about the great plays of the game.
Mr. Samuel is survived by his beloved wife, Amber Samuel of Colbert, Okla.; children, Adrienne Bozorgpor and husband Ray of Plano, Texas, and Ryan Samuel and wife Christy of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren: Nick Tschoepe of Richardson, Texas, Carson and Riley Samuel of Wylie, Texas, and Vivienne Bozorgpor of Plano, Texas; mother, Ouita Samuel of Durant, Okla.; siblings: Kent Samuel and wife Sue of the Woodlands, Texas, and Janet Stafford of Madill, Okla., and along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Dean Samuel.
A graveside service was held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Willis Cemetery near Kingston, Okla. with Bro. Chris Harper officiating.
