James Houston Clark

James Houston Clark, 83, of Calera, Okla. passed away at Medical City, McKinney, Texas on Oct. 15, 2019. James was born to John Andrew and Edna Clark in Cooper, Texas on Jan. 16, 1936.

James attended school in Kensing, Texas. On July 13, 1957 James married Viola Murlene Vest. He enjoyed riding horses with his grandkids, he was known for spending time with each of them getting them a Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew and a Snicker Bar and singing “She’ll Be Coming ‘round The Mountain” or “The Ole Grey Mare” on their drive home from school each day.

James is survived by: his wife, Murlene of Calera; daughter, Kimberly Cross of Calera, Okla.; granddaughter, Tiffany Braddock and husband Matt of Collinsville, Texas; grandson, Joey Cross and wife Shelby of Troy, Texas; grandson, Barry Cross of Collinsville, Texas; granddaughter, Mandy Clagg of Tuttle, Okla.; great-granddaughter Tatum Cross of Troy, Texas; great-granddaughter, Colbie Braddock of Collinsville, Texas; great-granddaughter, Collins James Cross of Troy, Texas; great-grandson, Denver Clagg of Tuttle, Okla.; great-grandson, Dustin Clagg of Tuttle, Okla.; great-grandson, Logan “Froggie” Smithart of Tuttle, Okla. and many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his parents John Andrew and Edna Clark, his brother Elton Clark, sisters Florence Bangs, Louise Cook, and Roby Herndon, and his son James “Steven“ Clark.

Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Abundant Life Texoma in Durant, Okla. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calera, Okla..
