James Elton “Jimmy” Ford

James Elton “Jimmy” Ford of Durant, entered his Heavenly Home on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the age of 68. He was born on May 6, 1951 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to Lewis Ford and Lois McCombs.

Jimmy was employed as a painter but his greatest passion was serving Jesus as a preacher. He was a faithful and loyal member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church of God and did the Lord’s work by spreading the gospel every chance he was given. Jimmy enjoyed coaching baseball, collecting baseball cards, watching all sports, and hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his siblings Charles Hubbard, Dorothy Bogard, Joe Ford, Jerry “Fox” Ford, Faye Moore, and Howard Hubbard.

Survivors include his three sons: Grady Ford and wife Monica, Jerry Ford and wife Sarah, and Ronny Ford and wife Cailyn; grandchildren: Nathan Ford, Callen Ford, Jarron Ford, Karson Ford, Emilyn Ford, and Ross Ford; siblings: Richard Ford and wife Judy, Phillip “Bird” Ford, Kenneth “Slick” Ford, Lavern Little and husband Leroy, and Juanita Hughes along with other extended family members and dear friends.

Services to honor Jimmy’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Pastor Tim Painter officiating.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Grady Ford, Jerry Ford, Ronny Ford, Albert Pierce, Hughey Powell, and Alan Hines serving as pallbearers. The family will accept friends Sunday evening from 4-6 at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
