James Eldon Campo was born on July 12, 1941, in Boswell, Okla., to William Haney and Myrtle Lorene (Dalton) Campo. James passed from this life on December 24, 2023, in Durant, Okla., at the age of 82.
James graduated from Bennington High School and later married Edith Lee Hamon on July 15, 1960, in Madill, Okla., and they began their journey together raising their family. James was a welder by trade and in his free time he enjoyed going fishing. James had a deep love for his family and treasured the time he spent with them.
James is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jordan Kyle Campo.
James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edith Lee Campo of the home; sons, Ricky Campo and wife Teresa of Durant, Okla. and Rodney Campo and wife Leah of Bennington, Okla.; daughters, Connie Schaef and husband Jeff of Wichita, Kan., and Rebecca Campo of Boswell, Okla.; brothers, Joe Campo, William Campo, and John Campo; sisters, Carolyn Reed, Myrtle Ray, and Wilma Bivings; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; life-long friend, Harold Gardner and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Okla. Michael Campo will officiate. Interment will follow with Michael Campo, Cody Schaef, Kory Ogden, Jarrett Schaef, Ty Schaef, and Hunter Goodwin serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Brown’s Funeral Service on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
