Jack Treat

Jack Treat left this life to begin his eternal life on June 13, 2019. He was born Jackie Lee Treat on May 6, 1935 in Atwood, Okla. and was the third of five children of Doc and Walsa Treat.

After graduating from Capitol Hills High School in Oklahoma City, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police at Fort Crowder in Neosho, Mo. While in Neosho at First Baptist Church, he met Mary Dorene Severs, who he married on July 2, 1955. After leaving the army, he got his bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma City University in 1961.

At Pioneer Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, he was ordained as a deacon and he served as deacon in many churches lastly at First Baptist Church, Durant, Okla. He became a Gideon in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doc Treat; mother, Walsa Treat; sisters, Chloe Seamon and Gloria Noblett; brother, Bob Treat and grandson, B.B. Treat.

He is survived by his wife Dorene Treat of Durant, Okla.; sister, Betty Chandler of Mustang, Okla., daughter Diana Tennison, Oklahoma City, Okla.; sons: Curtis W. Treat of Jefferson City, Mo., Kenny Treat of Durant, Okla., Carl Treat of Stillwater Okla.; grandchildren: Paul Tennison of Memphis, Tenn., Micah Tennison of Durant, Okla., Caleb Treat of Joplin, Mo., Joshua Tennison of Oklahoma City, Okla., Kendra Dobbins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mary Sanders of Duncan, Okla., Brandon Treat of Durant, Okla., Hadlee Treat of Stillwater, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Asher Tennison of Memphis, Tenn., Aubrey Dobbins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Judah Tennison of Durant, Okla. and coming in September baby Sanders of Duncan, Okla.

Jack lived in several places including Atwood, Okla.; a summer in Texas; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Neosho, Mo.; Shreveport, La.; Joplin, Mo.; Savannah, Mo.; Moore, Okla.; Stillwater, Okla.; Stratford, Okla.; and Durant, Okla. He went on Mission Trips to Russia and Mexico, and went as a Gideon to Mexico to hand out Bibles. His faith in Jesus was evident in the way he loved people. He was a giving person. Jack wanted people to know Jesus as their personal Savior and follow Jesus as their Lord. Jack lived a good life, wealthy in love. The people who knew and loved him are better because of him.
