Jack Ray Skaggs passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 at his home in Durant, Okla. at the age of 80. Born Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1941 in Durant, Okla. to Jack Skaggs and Delma (Cubley) Skaggs.
Jack was raised in Durant and graduated from Durant High School and later from Southeastern College. He married Mary Childers on April 26, 1967 at the First Methodist Church in Durant.
Jack is a retired Army veteran serving over 20-plus years. His Infantry company trained soldiers, preparing them going to war. Jack worked as a Senior Federal Probation Officer for the United States Courts for twenty years until his retirement. Jack and Mary are members of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed carpentry, fishing and watching kids play sports.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the Durant home; daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband, Brian, of Savanna, Okla.; son, Jeff Skaggs and wife, Erika, of Fort Gibson, Okla.; granddaughter, Makenzie Eagle Road and husband, Jordan, of Savanna, Okla.; grandson, Tanner Brown of Savanna, Okla.; grandson, Jaxon Skaggs of Fort Gibson, Okla.; granddaughter, Avery Skaggs of Fort Gibson, Okla.; great-grandson, Jordan Eagle Road of Savanna, Okla.; and great-granddaughter, India Eagle Road of Savanna, Okla.
Memorial services to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, at the First Christian Church in Durant with Bro. Jon Hazel officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ewing, Mike Dills, R.D. Hendrix, John Redman, Tommy Hearon, Jaxon Skaggs and Jordan Eagle Road.
