J.R. Varner

It is with great sadness that the family of J.R. Varner announces his passing while vacationing in the Western San Juan Mountains, a Range of the Rocky Mountains in Silverton, Colo. On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, J.R., his Fiancée’ Kay Silver, his little brother James and Sherrie Varner and friends Scott and Macy Bryant had set their clocks for early morning to go on yet another mountain trail ride on their side-by -sides.

GOD had another journey planned for this group of family and friends. God took J.R. to REST on a HIGHER MOUNTAIN to be with a different group of family and friends, a HOST OF ANGELS!

Those left would start their own journey with sadness, hearts aching and in shock to head home to be with those who were survived by J.R., including: daughter, Tanesha K. Robinson and husband Kelly; son, Michael L. Varner and wife Temple; granddaughter, Taylor M. Johnson and husband Wayde; granddaughter, Ashlynn K. Eiler and husband Josh; grandson, Jaron R. Varner.

J.R. spent most of his life in Blue, where he graduated from high school in 1970, built his home and raised his children Tanesha and Mike, still residing within one mile from his childhood home. His children and his grandchildren were his most precious blessing and were a huge part of his life, going to basketball games, softball games, and baseball games, where he had a front row seat. He and those kids and grands spent many weekends at Lake Texoma camping, SkiDooing, fishing, and boating. J.R. and his family always looked forward to spending as much time at his Kiamichi Mountain cabin celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and family time, which included his Uncle Charles David Foote and wife Helen.
So, to J.R. OUR DAD, PAPAW, BROTHER, NEPHEW, UNCLE AND FRIEND … GO IN PEACE and LOVE and JOIN THE HOST OF ANGELS, who have gone before you: wife, May Choate Varner; Dad and Mom-William E. and Dorothy M. Varner; brother, Kenneth E. Varner and REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN.

Others who survive are: bonus daughter, Eleighia Dudley Ledford of Calera; bonus granddaughter, Courtney Stark of Bokchito; sister-in-law, Brenda Varner of Mead; and mother to his children, Kathy Manners Barton of Sulphur; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many many friends.
SO, UNTIL WE SEE YOU AGAIN.
