OKLAHOMA CITY – Justin Humphrey, R-Lane, on Wednesday welcomed staff from the Southeast Oklahoma Library System to the State Capitol for Library Day.
Showcasing the variety of materials and programs available at Southeast Oklahoma Libraries were Sunshine Blassingame, Shannon Grice, Lacey Sudderth and Amanda Zaccaro.
“Our libraries offer so much more than just a variety of great books to read,” Humphrey said. “They offer internet service, mobile bookmobiles, workforce development, senior outreach programs, daycare and school educational programs, children, teen and adult programs and events and more. I’m thankful for all they do to enrich our communities, and I’m glad they came to the Capitol to help tell their story.”
Southeast Oklahoma Library System is a multi-county library system funded by a combination of county ad valorem taxes, state aid and other grant funds, miscellaneous operating revenues, and in-kind support provided by each of its library communities. Additional funding and support are also provided by local library friends organizations. Governance and policy direction is provided by a 22-member Board of Trustees. One representative is appointed by each of the seven counties. An additional representative is appointed by each of the communities in which a library is located.
