Hatsene Milligan

Hatsene Milligan, of Caddo, Okla., passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born on January 31, 1935 in Caddo, Okla., to Samuel Hatsel and Johnnye Belle (Hogan) Powell.

She married Orgel Milligan on May 25, 1956 at her home place, where she was born, married, and continued to live for rest of her life. She was a lifelong resident of Caddo and a member of the Caddo Church of Christ. She was a rancher’s wife and enjoyed gardening, canning, traveling, and family vacations. In later years she enjoyed birdwatching from her sunroom. No bird went unfed. She always enjoyed time with her family and keeping up the grandchildren’s activities.

She was active in church work, diligently teaching Bible classes, helping with Vacation Bible Schools, planning showers and ladies’ days. Her home was always open to visiting preachers, missionaries, friends, and family. She and Orgel spent many enjoyable years as Sojourners traveling across the United States doing the Lord’s work. When she could no longer physically do these things she encouraged others with cards, letters, and donations.

Hatsene was an active participant of the community, primarily the Civic and Cemetery Club and the Community Association. She was a Camp Fire leader for many years. In addition to her family, community, and church activities she served as administrator of the Caddo Nursing Home for 24 years seeing that each resident received excellent care.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; sisters, Annette Carlton, Margie Sue Simpson, Judy Morris; grandson, Travis Milligan and great-granddaughter, Rori Milligan.

Survivors include her daughters, Tawana Pratt and husband Jim of Ardmore, Okla., Jackie Mahana and husband Jimmy of Gunter, Texas; son, Terry Milligan and wife Joyce of Van, Texas; “adopted” son, Marty Wooten of Madisonville, La.; brother-in-law, Arvil Milligan and wife Essie of Caddo, Okla.; grandchildren: Jamie Keitz and husband Mark, Jackie Aaron, Justin Pratt and wife Janna, Jacob Milligan, Jayna LaPrade and husband Steven, Tambra Fowler and husband Austyn, Colt Mahana and wife Katie, Brooke Shivers and husband Travis; great-grandchildren: Hayden, Holten, Kaylee, Emilee, Beau, Asher, Abram, Logan, Lane, Landry, Breck, Noah, Nora Grace, Elijah, Laurel, Areli, and Asa as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at the Caddo Church of Christ in Caddo, Okla., with the familiy officiating. Justin Pratt, Jacob Milligan, Colt Mahana, Mark Keitz, Steven LaPrade and Austyn Fowler will served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to the Tipton Children’s Home, In Search of the Lord’s Way or the Caddo Civic and Cemetery Club.
