Harold Armstrong

Harold Wayne Armstrong was born on March 27, 1946 in Caney, Okla. to Arthur and Margaret (Simpson) Armstrong. Harold went to his Heavenly Home on December 15, 2020 in Durant, Okla. at the age of 74.

Harold graduated from Caney High School then proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict until his Honorable Discharge.

He married Christine Sliger on July 1, 1972 and they were blessed to share 48 years of marriage until his passing.

Harold was a Christian man and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Durant. He had several careers in his lifetime, but retired as a welder from Sundowner Trailers. In his spare time, he enjoyed catfishing, deer hunting and reading his bible as well as spending all the time he could with his family.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Ann Armstrong; granddaughter, Chelsea Bayles; brothers: Robert “Buster”, Alvin, Leonard “Topsy”, Jim Ray and Lester Armstrong and sister, Virginia Workman.

Harold is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Christine Armstrong of the home; daughter, Christy Bayles; son-in-law, David Davis; grandson, Cody Bayles all of Talihina, Okla.; adopted grandchildren: Loralai, Ariel and Elissa Riley of Durant, Okla. and Micha and Braxton Marsh of Cedar Hill, Texas; sister, Geneva Evans of Caney, Okla. and numerous extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at Brown’s Durant Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Anthony Williams will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Green Meadows Cemetery in Atoka with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
