Harold Anders

Harold Anders of Achille passed peacefully on December 16, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. He was born on April 15, 1942 to Mason and Nona (Howard) Anders. On January 21, 1966, he married the love of his life Loretta Kay Davis in Durant, Okla. They shared 56 years of marriage together before her passing on November 9, 2022.

Harold served our great country with honor and respect in the National Guard and National Guard Reserves. He worked for Gold Kist before changing careers and working at a weigh station for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission for more than 30 years. He was active in the Democratic Party and served as the Democratic board member for the Bryan County Election Board. Harold was very active in the community, especially with the FFA. The students loved him and his wife, Kay, visiting with them in their home throughout the years. He was a 50-year member of The Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of the State of Oklahoma, Colbert #352, as well as a member of the Colbert Masonic Lodge #18 for 50 years. He was also a member of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed the outdoors either fishing or working in his yard. He also enjoyed wood working.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kennedy of Calera, Okla., Paula Clark and husband Art of Sherman, Texas, and Jeannie Davis of Sherman, Texas, as well as his nieces and nephews, Toni and Tonya Kennedy, and Jeffery and Brandon Davis. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Mason and Nona Anders; his wife, Kay Anders, and also his siblings.

A funeral service is to be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Speers officiating. Harold will be laid to rest at the Kemp Cemetery in Kemp, Okla. following the funeral service. The family will receive visitors at a Family Hour prior to the funeral service from 1-2 p.m.

Those serving as pallbearers are Quinton Jones, Stanley Wells, Terry Smith, Justin House, Jody House, and Butch Scalf. Ben Roy Hicks and Mike Perryman will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Funeral services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North Fifth Ave. in Durant, Okla.
