Glenis Laverne Johnston, 84, of Colbert, Okla., passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence on Monday, June 14, 2021. Glenis was born on Oct. 15, 1936 in Florence, Texas to Leonard Roy Walton and Pearl Lorene McCoy Walton.
She married Harold Haskell Johnston on July 5, 1952 in Potales, N.M. Glenis formerly worked for Walmart as a clerk, but most of all she loved her family always being available for them.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Janie Lambright and husband Ray, of Humble, Texas, Harold Wayne Johnston and wife Shirley of Colbert, Okla., Ricky Johnston and Demita Hill of Colbert, Okla., Arlene Simons and husband Gean of Colbert, Okla., Darla Bookout, of Colbert, Okla., David Johnston and wife Donna of Calera, Okla., Steven Johnston and wife Lisa of Colbert, Okla.; grandchildren: Kelly, Patricia, Jason, Allen, Gordan, Ladonna, Ronnnie, Tim, Christie, Nathan, Jody, Billy, Beth, Dallas, Wesley, Jennifer, Nick, Mandy, Eric, Ashley, Eulonda, Devin, Shelby; numerous great-grandchilden; her brothers: Bill Walton of Amarillo, Texas, Wayne Walton of Georgetown, Texas, Ronnie Walton of Huntsville, Texas; sister, Gayle Stogner of Colbert, Okla. and other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Johnston; her parents, Leonard Roy and Pearl Lorene McCoy Walton; her brother, Junior Walton; daughters: Ilene Gartman and Pat Smith; sister, Linda Walton; grandchildren: Donald Simons and Neil Johnston; great-grandson, Thomas Seth Gartman and great-granddaughter, Clasey Bookout.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Gospel Lighthouse in Colbert, Okla. with Reverend Roddy Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Colbert, Okla.
Family and friends visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at American Funeral Service, Colbert, Okla.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Gartman, Timmy Johnston, Wesley Johnston, Nick Johnston, Nathan Johnston, Devin Johnston, Austin Ratcliff and Trevor Cole.
