Glenda Joyce Knight

Glenda was born Tuesday, December 4, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Raymond Albert Martin and Avis Virginia (Matthews) Martin. She entered into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from Pittsburg, Texas.

Glenda was raised and attended schools in Lake Dallas. She married James Lee Knight in Irving, Texas on December 6, 1968. They were together until his death in 2008. Several years later she would marry James Ray Carpenter in Cason, Texas on November 9, 2013. He passed away on June 12, 2015.

Glenda worked as a dietician working at Oak Ridge Nursing Home and the Bryan County Manor for several years. She would then work at Indian Nation Wholesale as a cigarette stamper for a few years.

Glenda enjoyed playing games on her iPad, loved watching wrestling and soap operas. She loved and adored all her grandchildren. Glenda enjoyed the companionship of her dogs, Trixie and Bandit, and her birds, Big Bird and Tweety. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Cason, Texas.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a brother, Homer Martin; uncle and aunt, Sylvester and Dovie Matthews; uncle, Buddy Matthews; mother-in-law, Ruby Irene Knight; and brother-in-law, Bobby Knight.

She is survived by her children, Clifton Lee Knight and his wife, Lisa, of Anna, Texas, Patricia Gardner and her husband, James, of Moyers, Okla., and Timothy James Knight and Terri Woodland of Houston, Texas; a brother, David Earl Martin; grandchildren, Haley Knight, Riley Dodson, Kimberleigh Miller and her husband, Bryan, Adrienne O’Connor and her husband, Devin, Megan Gardner and Aidan Harrison.

Funeral services for former Durant resident, Glenda Joyce Knight, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, in Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Paul Easter Jr. officiating. Committal services will follow at Bokchito Cemetery, Bokchito, Oklahoma, with Glenn Stephens, Caleb Stephens, Corey Stephens, James Gardner, Carl Stephens and Albert Knight serving as casket bearers.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant.
