Georgia M. Shewmake, 94, of Durant, Okla., passed away Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Southern Pointe Living Center in Colbert, Okla. She was born September 24, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to George W. and Gladys Lenore (Hatchet) Ingram. She married W.K. Bill Shewmake (aka) D. Fleming on August 14, 1964 in Dallas, Texas.
Georgia was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Durant, Okla. She was a published author, a painter and had a great love for music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Gladys Jean Ingram, Harriet Louise Jordan and Ora Janet Hutchins.
She is survived by her nephews: Paul Atwood of California and Kenny Jordan of Royce City, Texas; nieces: Patricia Hutchins of Commerce, Texas, Linda Hutchins of Onalaska, Texas and and Wanda Hutchins of Phoenix, Ariz. She is also survived by her special friends and caregivers Jackie Garner and Jennifer Rowland.
A graveside service was heldTuesday, March 9, 2021 at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla. with Jim Hodson officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Okla.
