George T. Hall

George Thomas Hull, 93, of Durant passed away on June 23, 2024. He was born in Matoy, Okla., to Dock and Nana Hull on March 21, 1931. He married Margie Faye Anderson in Oklahoma City on March 24, 1978.

As a young man George could be found on the basketball court. He was #88 on the Matoy boys basketball team when they won the district championship in 1951. After high school, George served in the U.S. Army as an artillery gunner from 1952-1954 as far away as Japan during the Korean War. He enjoyed a long career with the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company first as a lineman restoring service to many area communities and later as a switchman in Oklahoma City. George was happiest hunting in the woods or fishing in the lakes and rivers of Matoy and beyond. After retirement, George and Margie enjoyed camping in their RV and visiting friends. He enjoyed trail rides with his mules and raising hunting dogs. The Matoy community salutes one of its most loquacious story tellers and wishes George happy trails.
