Frankie Lee Homes, 65, of Durant, Okla., died Sept. 7, 2021. He passed away in Durant.
Frankie was born April 17, 1956, in DeQueen, Ark., the only child of Vester and Patsy Holmes. In school, he found his love of playing the drums in the band while in middle school and high school. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he played in the band, sang in the Chorvettes, and he played in several rock and roll bands such as White Rock and Arabella. Frankie pledged Delta Chi Delta in 1977 and serving as the President for several years.
He married the love of his life Kathy Holaday on April 6, 1979, in Caddo, Okla., and they settled in Durant, Oklahoma. Frankie worked many years as a truck driver for several companies in the area. In the late 1980s, he answered a call from God to be a music minister. He served at Fairview Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church, and Colbert Baptist Church. Playing the drums and listening to rock and roll were his favorite things.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Holmes of Durant, Okla.; three daughters, Amanda and David Coffey of Goodwell, Okla., Shonda and Matt Miller of Piedmont, Okla., and Andrea and Robert Shannon of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren: Abigail, David, and Jacee Coffey; Hunter and Elizabeth Miller; Silas, Hannah, and Jonah Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Patsy Holmes, and grandson John Allen Coffey.
Services will be at Fairview Baptist Church on Friday, Sept. 10` at 2 p.m., with a graveside to follow at Highland Cemetery. Family hour will be on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
