ALVA – It is always good to have a great day in a game against your team’s archrival.
Durant alum (Class of 2018) Taylor Russell did just that in her first opportunity on Tuesday. The freshman for Northwestern had a solid day in a softball doubleheader split with Southwestern.
Russell came in as a pinch-hitter in Game One and went 1-for-1 with her first homer of the day and her collegiate career. The Rangers came up short, 6-3, in that one.
She followed that with another home run to left in Game Two as part of a 2-for-3 effort, helping NWOSU to a 4-0 victory.
Russell has played in 14 games so far for Northwestern and is hitting .368 for the season.
