Esther L. Smith, 73, of Brumley, Mo., formerly of Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Stone Bridge Senior Living in Osage Beach, Mo. She was born on May 8, 1949, in Springfield to Millard and Bonnie (Pendergrass) Ruggles.
She was a member of Lighthouse Church, in Brumley. She was a retired customer service representative for Chase Bank. Esther was the winner of Mother of the Year award, and many other awards from employers as well. In her spare time, Esther enjoyed Crocheting, Fishing, Bowling, Family time, Cards, Puzzle books, but most importantly spending time with Jesus.
Esther was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Draffin; father, Millard Ruggles; her brother, Charles Butler and many other loved ones.
She is survived by her children: Teresa Nash (Richard), Crystal Vanderburg (Charles), and Karen Roemer (Larry). eight grandchildren: Autumn, Kendra, Stevie, Thomas, Chase, Cole, Chaz, and Kim; six great-grandchildren: Conner, Payton, Christian, Addy, Bekah, and Jaxson; one sister, Ramona Goodwin (Bob); nieces and nephews: Angela, Matt, Wesley and Jim (Eric) as well as numerous other cousins, relatives and friends. All her hope was in Jesus. Her family was her world.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers, while in the nursing home, her “many” church families, the phone calls, visits, care packages, just so much love from everyone that knew mom, a Big Thank you! She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Pastor Eric Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery.
