Esther Mae Dixon, 85, passed away at Texoma Medical Center on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019. Esther was born on Aug. 25, 1934 to Leo and Dovie (Tollett) Allensworth in Rufe, Okla.
Esther attended and graduated from Rattan High School. And on July 3, 1959 she married William “Bill” Dixon. Esther was one of 14 children and learned early in life the meaning of hard work. She met the love of her life while waitressing in Broken Bow, Okla., when Bill sat down at the counter and ordered a cup of black coffee and a smile. She gave him her winning smile and not long afterward, her heart. Together they raised five children by working hard and sacrificing often in order to provide for the family.
Esther was, for the most part, a stay at home mom while only working small odds-and-ends jobs to help get through the rough patches. She was always there for her family when they needed her and wasn’t hesitant about voicing her opinion. Becoming a grandmother was the highlight of her life, and as with her children, never missed an activity that they were involved in, if possible.
She attended the Mead Baptist Church until the passing of her husband, Bill, at which time she moved to Kemp, Ok and started attending Kemp Baptist Church. She loved to travel and experience new adventures and looked forward to her annual trips with her girls. She had a hobby of painting pictures and always enjoyed asking her grandchildren what they wanted her to paint for them. Esther was a strong role model and example to the large legacy she left behind.
Esther is survived by her children: Keith Dixon and wife Marti of Leesville, La., Vickie Crawford and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, Okla., Bob Dixon and wife Sue of Messena, N.Y., Billy Dixon and wife Joanne of Sherman, Texas, Debra Ervin and husband Kendell of Kemp, Okla.; grandchildren: Kameron Dixon and wife Laura of Leesville, La., Kelby Dixon and wife Lacy of Leesville, La., Justin Crawford of Tulsa, Okla., Rachael Hoefar and husband Jordan of Austin, Texas, Nathan Crawford of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jennifer Dixon-Gonzalez and husband Miguel of El Paso, Texas, Robbie Dixon of Las Vegas, Nev., Willy Dixon of Seattle, Wash., Stephen Dixon of Achille, Okla., Chris Dixon and wife Ela of Scott AFB, Ill., Kasey Ervin wife Tammie of Kemp, Okla., Koby Ervin and wife Cindy of Kemp, Okla., Keenan Ervin and wife Linsey of Kemp, Okla,; great-grandchildren: Khloe, Kenzi, Kelcy, Benjamin, Kimberly, Chris, Benjamin, Jace, Silvan, Raina, Klay, Keeli, Kenley, Kate, Kendall, Kennedy, Megan, Tristan; great-great grandchildren: Cinch and Spur; sisters: Priscilla Tilley of Midwest City, Okla. and Joye Courtwright of Spencerville, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
